An Intensive Course in Design, Architecture, and Visual Arts. An immersion into the world of design where you explore the concept of transformation and acquire skills through practical exercises encompassing sculpture and architectural models, aiming to create innovative installations. Following the luminous paths of Piero Fogliati, Harry Bertoia, Achille Castiglioni, Dieter Roth, Marcel Duchamp, and Eusebio Sempere, we develop a contemporary and design-oriented critical eye, discovering how sound, light, movement, and identity shape artistic creation while staying connected with reality and contemporaneity. The course spans from ideation to practical realization, including setup and photographic documentation.

︎Un corso intensivo di design, architettura e arti visive: un’immersione nel mondo della progettazione in cui si esplora il concetto di trasformazione e si acquisiscono competenze attraverso prove pratiche che abbracciano scultura e plastico architettonico, allo scopo di creare allestimenti innovativi.
Seguendo le luminose tracce di Piero Fogliati, Harry Bertoia, Achille Castiglioni, Dieter Roth, Marcel Duchamp ed Eusebio Sempere, sviluppiamo un occhio critico contemporaneo e progettuale, scoprendo come il suono, la luce, il movimento e l’identità plasmano la creazione artistica rimanendo in contatto con la realtà e la contemporaneità. Il percorso spazia dall’ideazione alla realizzazione pratica, fino all’allestimento e alla documentazione fotografica.

ABCD Design workshop

A for Self-Portrait: Understanding oneself is the first step to understanding the world. / B for Bruno Munari: We will draw inspiration from the creative method of the designer who revolutionized teaching and our approach to children's literature, critically analyzing and reinterpreting the work of great design masters./ C for City: Looking at one's city with fresh eyes is the starting point for creating something new that should already be part of our daily life. We'll create a personal mnemonic map of the city and a surreal construction, the embryonic stage of an architectural desire, the utopian model. / D for Design, useful or useless?: Using the workshop's approach, we'll explore converting the project to another artistic field, reversing its use.

Note: Designers and great masters vary according to the course context, but the methodology remains consistent.

︎A come Autoritratt: Conoscere se stessi è il primo passo per comprendere il mondo. / B come Bruno Munari: Ci ispireremo al metodo creativo del designer che ha rivoluzionato l'insegnamento e il nostro approccio alla letteratura per bambini, analizzando criticamente e rielaborando l'opera dei grandi maestri del design. / C come Città: Guardare la propria città con occhi nuovi è il punto di partenza per creare qualcosa di nuovo che dovrebbe già far parte della nostra quotidianità. Creeremo una mappa mnemonica personale della città e una costruzione surreale, fase embrionale di un desiderio architettonico, il plastico utopico. / D come Design, utile o inutile?: Grazie all'approccio acquisito durante il workshop, esploreremo la possibilità di convertire il progetto in un altro ambito artistico, invertendone l'uso.

︎Being Contemporary and the Role of Noise in the City: What does it mean to be contemporary when the city reflects our ideals? What role does noise play? Emphasizing the importance of the city as a constantly evolving canvas, where architecture takes on mutable sonic and physical forms over time, transforming into true art. The challenges faced include turning ideas into projects, exploring new creative techniques, gaining professional experience, and even developing seemingly useless ideas. The art project—whether installation, large-scale, architectural, conceptual, or research-based—precedes the final result.

Essere Contemporanei e il Ruolo del Rumore nella Città.Cosa significa essere contemporanei quando la città riflette i nostri ideali? Quale ruolo gioca il rumore? Esaltare l'importanza della città come tela in continua evoluzione, dove l'architettura assume forme sonore e fisiche mutevoli nel tempo, trasformandosi in vera e propria arte. Le sfide affrontate includono trasformare idee in progetti, esplorare nuove tecniche creative, acquisire esperienza professionale e persino sviluppare idee apparentemente inutili. Il progetto d’arte, installativo, fuori scala, architettonico, il concetto, la ricerca antecedente al risultato.

The opportunity to transform the project into a true work of art is realized through the "Macchine Inutili" workshop. You will be guided by the luminous traces of masters such as Piero Fogliati, Harry Bertoia, and Eusebio Sempere. This intensive course, structured in two phases, will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to create artworks that span design, architecture, and the visual arts. A critical and design-oriented eye, combined with the visual traces of great masters in history, will allow you to discover how sound, light, movement, and dreams have often played a key role in artistic creation.
